General Help

Postby ashwin.masarkar » 22 Dec 2008, 07:15

Hello,

We are in process to design an application which can provide us to deal with Autocad files. Our task is to read Autocad files and react according to that.
After lot of Googling we found CAD Import.NET as the best one. But before going into any deal, I just want to confirm whether CAD Import.NET API can provide us solutions for following -

1. Drawing 2D Objects
2. Editing 2D Drawing
3. 3D Modeling
4. Zooming/Panning
5. 2D to 3D Conversion
6. Rendering
7. GIS File formats supporting(DWG, MapInfo and Shape files)
8. Raster/Vector Formats
9. Support of Legends/Colors

Awaiting your reply at the earliest.

Hello!

The following is supported:

1. Drawing 2D Objects
2. Editing 2D Drawing
4. Zooming/Panning
7. DWG
8. Raster/Vector Formats

The following is not supported:

3. 3D Modeling
6. Rendering
7. GIS File formats supporting( MapInfo and Shape files)
9. Support of Legends/Colors

5. 2D to 3D Conversion

2D drawing is a particular case of 3D drawing. Can you please open your question wider?

Sergey.

Hello Sergey,

Thank you very much for your quick reply.
Can you suggest me any API which can deal with the requirements that are not supported by CAD Import.NET? I mean 3D Modeling, Rendering, GIS File Formats supporting, and Support of Legends/Colors.
What will be better either go with CAD Import.NET along with another API which supports other requirements or altogether go with that API which supports all requirements?
Please suggest.

Hello!

First of all we should say that CAD Import .NET is a kind of unique library which allows working with different CAD formats. Secondly, we hope you understand this is not in our interest to suggest you some outer respective libraries if they exist. On the third, CAD Import .NET is constantly developing product. We increase it's functionality from version to version.
So, this is your choice - to use CAD Import .NET which already contains some fundumental functionality or to seach some other product.

Sergey.
