Dimension

Introduction  Previous  Next

The Dimension button allows drawing a dimension.

The button is in the Editor tab under the section Text.

Click .
Click once to specify the first point of the distance measured or select the necessary object (Snap mode has to be switched on). You can also use the dynamic input.
Specify the second point.
Move the mouse to show the extension lines and the dimension line itself. At this point you can specify the length of the extension lines by entering the necessary value from the keyboard in the pop up window:

Click to fix the position of the extension and dimension lines on the drawing.

You can also use the right mouse button which will display the following menu:

Offset- allows precise positioning of the object relative to another object
Double offset - allows precise positioning of the object relative to other objects
Enter - finishes drawing the dimension - it can be used instead of the final click - to fix the dimension in the current position
Cancel - cancels drawing of the dimension
Full screen - viewing in full-screen mode

The panel Properties allows changing the dimension's parameters.

Color

Defines the dimension's color.

       Colors

By layer - dimension assumes the color assigned to the layer on which it was created;
By block - dimension assumes the color of the block this entity belongs to.
Select color - calls Select Color dialog box.

Layer

Defines the layer the dimension belongs to.

Style

Define the dimension's style.

Measurement Scale

Defines scale parameter for linear dimensions. It is not recommended to change value by default - 1.000. For instance: if this parameter is 2, then dimension 1mm will be viewed as 2mm.

Precision

Defines the number of digits after comma.

Text

Text Color - defines the dimension text color.

Text Height - defines the dimension text height.

Text Rotation - defines the dimension's rotation angle.

Text Override - allows redefining the dimension text and adding special characters (press button on the right):

Text pos vert - defines the placement of the dimension text against the dimension line.

       Vertical alignment:

Center - the dimension text is placed in the center between the extension lines.
Above - the dimension text is placed over the dimension line. Distance between the dimension line and the base line of the lowest text border is equal to the current value of Offset from Dim Line parameter.
Outside - placement of the dimension text near the extension line at the side which is most distant from the first definition point.
JIS - placement of the dimension text according to the JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards).

Text Inside Align - defines the text alignment along the dimension lines.

Text offset - defines the dimension text offset.

Lines and Arrows

Arrow size - defines the size of the dimension arrows.

Arrow 1 - defines the view of dimension arrow 1.

Arrow 2 - defines the view of dimension arrow 2.

Dimension Line Color - defines the color of the dimension lines.

Extension Line Color - defines the color of the extension lines.

Extension Line 1 - switches extension line 1 on or off.

Extension Line 2 - switches extension line 2 on or off.

Extension Line Extension - defines the length of extension lines.

Extension Line Offset - defines the space between the extension lines and the measured object.

Dimension Line 1 - switches dimension line 1 on or off.

Dimension Line 2 - switches dimension line 2 on or off.

Control Point

Contains control point coordinates.

Base Point 1

Contains base point 1 coordinates.

Base Point 2

Contains base point 2 coordinates.

Note: this option is absent in Standard version
